Trapped Emotions will Block Your Success
Emotions resulting from pain or distress can be so strong that they're not processed completely. This can happen in many situations. For example, if we got told off in class in front of everybody else and felt small and stupid for it, or if we went through bigger things like a car accident, abuse or family split-ups, the resulting emotions may be so strong and big we can’t process them. It doesn’t matter if it’s a big or tiny event, if we feel strongly about something, we usually make a decision of some kind in response to it. For example, “I’ll never do xyz again!”, “I’ll never let this happen to me again!” or “I hate...!”
We all have emotions. We are emotional beings and our emotions are experienced in response to our environment. Emotions are a normal part of life, as we experience and interpret the world through them. In traditional Chinese medicine, we have 5 elements for all of the 14 meridians. 12 of them are linked to organs that represent a main emotion. For example, the liver corresponds to the emotion of anger and the lungs to the emotions of sadness and grief, etc
In order to lead a healthy, full life, we need to move through all emotions fluently. Emotions are supposed to be felt, processed by the body, mind, and spirit connection, and then at some point let go of. This is usually the trajectory of positive emotions which result in you feeling good.
“In order to lead a healthy, full life, we need to move through all emotions fluently…”
On the other hand, in our society we’ve learnt that some emotions are apparently not “as good” as other ones, and those “not as good” emotions often follow a different trajectory. People often suppress emotions such as anger, frustration or sadness. It’s not that these emotions aren’t there and part of their lives; they are just not as welcomed and therefore not allowed to be expressed. Just think of all those times that parents tell their kids “Shhh don’t cry”. We hear from a young age that crying, feeling sad or frustrated aren’t acceptable ways to be and are bad emotions. So we end up suppressing them instead.
When this happens, some remnant of the negative emotional energy becomes trapped in the body, usually in an organ or gland, although it can become trapped anywhere in the body or in the field of energy for ütsurrounding the body. Remember, no matter what the reason or catalyst for the emotion, it’s never really about what happens; it’s about what the person on the receiving end perceives.
For example, three people can go through exactly the same situation, but all three of them can experience the situation in COMPLETELY different ways. One might flow through it, release it and never think of it again, the other person might dwell on it for the rest of their life, and the third person might find it so traumatic that they ban the experience from their memory altogether. The third way would still affect this person subconsciously—until the day comes that he/she chooses to work on acknowledging and releasing their subconscious blockages.
The reason why the trapped emotion would affect the person (sub)consciously is that the frequency (rate of vibration) of a trapped emotion is different from the frequency of the body part in which it is trapped. This conflicting frequency begins to distort the normal, healthy frequency of that body part. At some point in time, this distortion or imbalance of the tissues or energy field will cause symptoms such as uneasiness, emotional ups and downs, depression, and/or physical symptoms. However, most of the time we have no idea that what is causing these symptoms are trapped emotions.
As a result, we respond differently to situations than someone else without the same trapped emotions and beliefs responds to them.
Whenever a situation arises that triggers those trapped emotions, the old feelings will burst forth, compounding the present situation and resulting in disproportionate reactions and outbursts.
If not released, trapped emotions cause imbalances that encumber us and block us from going for our dreams, believing in ourselves and leading full lives.
The good news is that trapped emotions can be released via various forms of healing; i.e. self-clearing, trauma release techniques, dancing, certain types of bodywork, breathwork, and the Spiral, to name a few. You can take your life back, ditch sabotage, go for your dreams and make the positive impact you are here for!
