What’s really going on when you’re experiencing issues in your business, relationships and sense of fulfilment
- and why ‘Purpose’ is not a far-fetched concept but the antidote
(How knowing your purpose can unlock your business success – and how to discover your purpose.)
As business owners, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day demands—managing responsibilities, focusing on financial security, and feeling the pressure of not being present enough with loved ones. We often fight fires and get pulled into every detail, without taking the time to step back and reflect.
Purpose can seem like a far-fetched concept, but it is NOT.
Aligning with your purpose can actually help shift everything: your financial success, your relationships, and your fulfillment. It’s not just a small adjustment; it’s a whole new way of living—one that integrates success and purpose, allowing you to achieve both wealth and deep satisfaction.
Why Do We Want to Live Our Purpose?
I get asked this all the time: "What’s the point of finding out my purpose? How does it apply to my business, my life, and my everyday responsibilities?"
Good question.
When we live our purpose and we're in full alignment with who we really are, we bring our best version to everything we do—in business, in life, in leadership, no matter what area. You name it, you will unlock your full potential.
What that means is that you're going to feel in flow, and things are going to be expansive. You're going to magnetize projects, opportunities, and possibilities that are aligned with your vision and what you want to create in life. Your impact will unlock and unleash, and the positive ripples are endless.
How Do We Find Our Purpose?
How do we figure out who we're really meant to be? This is also a great question, and it happens all the time. People come to me and ask, "How do I even figure out what my purpose is?"
Often, they're part of masterminds, conferences, and business coaching programs where they're asked to stipulate their purpose and write it down. While it's a great question, people tend to approach it from their mind. When asked this question, people will typically try to figure it out logically, but let me tell you—it doesn't work. You won't figure it out in your mind.
The reason for that is our purpose is who we really are—our uniqueness, a cocktail of our experiences. It’s who we are at our core. The stories we've experienced, the experiences we’ve made, the situations we've been through, and often the hardships we've overcome give us important clues in order to identify what our purpose is.
It takes inner introspection and an inner journey to really figure out what that is, so we can not only name it and clarify it but also know it, feel it, and embody it. It takes a bit of inner work. However, it can be done. It’s an amazing journey to go inward and unearth it. It will be life-changing and unleashing everything you've ever thought was possible if you really figure it out and live it.
The Challenges of Living Our Purpose & Expanding Further into it
Now, clarifying your purpose is not meant to be a silver bullet, and it’s not something where you say, "Yep, that's my purpose, and now I'm on it." It's not this simple, because things can get in the way—sabotage patterns, blockages, inner hurdles, and things that make it feel not so easy to “just tap into it” once you’ve identified it. People often ask, "If it's meant to be my purpose, why is it so hard to live?"
The reason for that is our comfort zone, and our comfort zone is often far away from our dreams and purpose. Our inner desires, our calling that we all have inside, that we either listen to throughout our life or not so much, are there to guide us along the journey—not just to live our aligned goals but to reach the fullest version of who we are and our potential.
If we follow that inner calling, the little nudges and pulls that we have in life, then we’ll be guided naturally to living the fullest version of who we are. The problem is that most people don’t listen to those calls.
Dogma, the ‘musts,’ the ‘shoulds,’ and the pressures we have in life and in business are real. What happens is we tend to follow those because we have responsibilities we can’t put down, and we have stuff to do. Therefore, we get distracted from what we’re actually meant to be living.
Remember, when we live our purpose and potential, it’s outside of our comfort zone. It’s in the "danger zone," far away from what we've known so far. But the epic thing about it is it feels the most amazing. It unlocks success, fulfillment, flow, and awesome stuff that magnetizes us.
Dogma, the ‘musts,’ the ‘shoulds,’ and the pressures we have in life and in business are real.
Pathways to Finding Your Purpose
How do we find it? There are lots of different pathways in. It’s an inner journey, as I mentioned before, but there are specific steps we can take. There are amazing tools out there, such as Human Design and the Gene Keys, as well as various profile tests that help us understand ourselves more.
Step one is to really understand yourself more. On my journey, I’ve read over 10,000 feet in the past, and they tell me exactly what the person's purpose and potential are. It might sound a bit out there, but our purpose is written in our bodies. It’s written in our feet, which represent our whole body. It’s mind-blowing what we can discover about our strengths, gifts, weaknesses, and things we need to align or realign so we can live our full alignment, who we’re meant to be, and our purpose and mission.
When I used to do Purpose-Feet Readings over all those years in the past, I found it mind-blowing that I could tell people exactly what they were meant to be bringing to this world in order to unlock their most fulfilling and successful life. At the time of me reading their feet, often their mind got so stretched by what’s potentially possible, that they’d go a bit blank. Often, what I was sharing with them was so far away from what they were living.
Therefore, I found it fascinating to observe that despite them being really curious as to what their purpose was, they’d often have a hard time taking action on it. Hence many didn’t immediately act on it. It often took them a few years to process what I told them because it was so far removed from how they were living at the time.
Eventually, I’d receive messages from people saying, "You probably don’t remember me, but you read my feet years ago and what you said was totally accurate. Back then, I didn’t understand what you were talking about. Now I’m living it as my reality, and I love it. So thank you very much!"
That always warms my heart because it is amazing to see what happens when people really live who they are and are meant to be. Amazing things happen in business, life, relationships—every area of life. That is what I want for you.
However, the massive gap between people gaining clarity and actually living it, did make me go on a quest to find a way to shorten this gap for people. That’s when clearing work came into my life and I’ve never looked back! Utilising my unique blend of tools and techniques, underpinned with my deep intuition and skill in body reading, has enabled me to support tons of visionary leaders, ambitious entrepreneurs and business owners to take the brakes off, so they could unlock their purpose and potential. The result? They are living it!! They can step into it and live it with inner certainty.
These days I don’t offer feet readings anymore, but fuse the work of body reading into everything I do (online via zoom) - my clients’ bodies simply talk to me.
Tools to Help You Discover Your Purpose
In order to discover your purpose without having your feet read, we need to find different tools. I
I have a powerful questionnaire that helps my clients to dive deeper and find their expression modalities.
Establishing your topmost expression modalities means literally establishing the golden thread that’s been running through the whole journey of your life, no matter what you experienced, did or have gone through. It means clarifying the expression modalities that you have been sharing with the world from a young age onwards—your gifts, your knowing, your strength and whatever makes you happy.
Your top five expression modalities unlock your greatest fulfillment, but also come most naturally to you. They are your gift to this world. Whether it’s connection, travel, transformation, organizing, or managing, the important thing is to establish your expression modalities and the order of their priorities. Because no matter what you’ve gone through in life, whether you’ve done a job that was far from fulfilling or something that felt like full expression, the more you turn up these "volume buttons," the more inspired, in flow, and fulfilled you will feel. The more amazing stuff happens, the more you feel expressed, seen, and loved. The more success you can create.
Moreover, you can use pathways like Human Design or free profile tests online to gain a deeper understanding of yourself; your gifts, your strengths and weaknesses (which are someone else’s strengths). For instance, MyHumanDesign.com is a great resource. You can also explore the Gene Keys. Both provide a report based on your birth profile—date, time, and location.
There are many profile tests that give you clues and aspects of who you are. The more you understand how you work, what you love, what serves you, and what exhausts you, the more you create flow in your life and align with your purpose.
In a nutshell, it is all about you living your gift—living what you’re here for and what comes to you naturally and with ease. It is your ‘Ikigai’ in Japanese. It is really finding that sweet spot where you feel unlocked and unleashed. You know you are living your purpose when you’re at ease and doing things naturally. They inspire and give you energy. That’s the genius you have to unlock and unleash. That is the piece you need to bring forward in your business, your journey, and your life.
What Happens When We Don’t Live Our Purpose?
What happens if we know our purpose but can’t seem to do it? We can’t seem to get ourselves out there, live it, and share it with the world. There are often real reasons for this, such as family obligations, businesses to run, or other responsibilities. It's not always easy to balance it all, but it’s possible.
Living your purpose doesn’t mean abandoning responsibilities. It’s about managing your time and energy effectively. Even if your schedule is full, you can still create pockets of time to connect with yourself, your values, and what truly matters.
I have a resource to download called The 7 Forms of Resistance. It is a resource that explores seven main forms of resistance that hold people back from living their purpose, dreams, and vision.
You can download it for free [here].
I highly recommend you grab it. Have a read and explore those seven forms of resistance. Figure out if one of them is playing out in your life right now.
It is amazing to understand what can get in the way. It is not always what we think—it’s often not that obvious.
Distractions, for example, can take many forms—family needing you, business, team, or clients. You are required in many places, but your purpose requires the most of you. It doesn’t mean equal time for everything, it doesn’t work like that. Even if you have a full schedule and your calendar is booked out, it is about following that golden thread. It's about making little spaces, pockets of time where you listen within, connect with yourself, live your values, and make sure you honor yourself on a deep level.
It is a journey—a transformational one. If you need any support in that area or don’t know where to start, please reach out to me. You can book a call here or send an email to sand@sandmew.com.
I would love to support you with a complimentary call, diving deep into where you are, what you're dreaming up, and what seems to be in the way. Together, we can establish a strategy for you that is aligned with who you are. Individualized and unique to you—that is the key. So, you can live your purpose and overcome any roadblocks so much faster, allowing you to live as who you are meant to be and bring the impact you are here for.
Remember, it’s not just about finding your purpose—it’s about integrating financial success and fulfillment. By aligning with your purpose and clearing what keeps you in ‘either or’ (I.e. financial security OR fulfillment), not only will you shift the pressures of managing responsibilities, creating financial security, and being present with loved ones, but you’ll experience a life that flows more naturally. It’s about taking that space to go inward, to reflect, and to listen, even amidst the chaos. Living in alignment with your purpose is a different way of being, and it’s a path that leads to a fuller, richer, and more impactful life.
Let’s go on this journey together.
The time is now.
