We all know what it feels like to be triggered. A word, a situation, or even just a look can set off a wave of emotions that make it hard to stay grounded. For high achievers and leaders, these triggers can be particularly disruptive, affecting everything from decision-making to personal relationships. Triggers aren’t just random events that throw us off balance—they’re messengers pointing toward unresolved emotional layers that need to be cleared. When we’re triggered, it’s not just about what’s happening in the present moment. Often, our reactions stem from deeply rooted emotional patterns, past experiences, or unprocessed trauma stored in the subconscious. In fact, research shows that 95% of our reality is created by the subconscious mind, which holds onto these emotional imprints and shapes our perceptions and behaviors.

Instead of reacting impulsively, you gain the ability to pause, reflect, and choose a more empowered response, and often you forget that something triggered you in the first place, as the shifts get deeply embodied. Matt* (*name has been changed for privacy reasons), a mentor and author, joined my "The Ultimate Breakthrough Journey" with a history of frequent emotional triggers. Emotional freedom doesn’t mean you’ll never feel triggered again. Instead, it means that when triggers arise (and there will be way less), you have the tools to navigate them in a way that serves you. And although no prior knowledge is required to go on the Ultimate Breakthrough Journey, and it isn’t necessary for you to know and/or understand your triggers, here’s how you can start transforming your triggers into growth opportunities:

1. Identify Your Triggers
Awareness is the first step. Pay attention to situations that consistently provoke strong emotional reactions. Is it criticism? Feeling ignored? Conflict? Noticing these patterns will help you identify the underlying emotions that need to be addressed.

2. Explore the Root Cause
Once you identify a trigger, dig deeper to understand its origin. And although I can test for the root cause (no matter if it’s from in this life or past life etc) with speed and accuracy with kinesiology on steroids, you can start the inner journey by reflecting on questions such as;

Are there past experiences that may have contributed to this reaction? What beliefs do you hold about yourself or others when this trigger is activated? What do you make it mean about yourself? Exploring these questions can provide valuable insights into what needs to be released.

3. Release the Emotional Charge
Clearing the emotional charge behind a trigger involves acknowledging and allowing the feelings to surface, rather than suppressing them. This may require guidance from a practitioner or mentor.

That way, we can make sure you’re more and more embodied and triggers don’t just drop away and open loops closed, but you’ll find you’re able to navigate life and business in a very deliberate and conscious way. 

Without my clearing tools, practicing choosing a new response could mean taking a moment to breathe before speaking, reframing the situation, or simply acknowledging your emotions without judgment. The goal is to create space between the trigger and your response.
