Why It Can Be So Tricky To Listen To Your Intuition

Have you ever found it difficult to tell between your mind and heart? To listen within and choose what feels truly right for you? To listen to your gut?

Most likely you already know that listening to your intuition and inner guidance creates epic results. Or at least, that decisions based on intuition lead to far better outcomes than outer influences and external pressures could ever achieve.

But how do we really listen? How do we know what’s what? And what happens if we go into avoidance or don’t (manage to) listen well?

Let me tell you a bit of my story;

When I was 16, I had a severe sickness. It got me to question everything and come back inward.

As a child, I traveled extensively with my parents, and as a teenager, I continued exploring with my backpack. However, I noticed that whenever I returned home, resumed school, and worked to save money for my passions like photography, travel and exploring, I felt disconnected. It became clear that immersing myself in the routine of daily life and what society expects of us, led me astray, whereas traveling allowed me to reconnect with my true self and listen to my intuition.

This is also one of the reasons why my mum allowed me to travel from a young age onwards. I went to England as an 11-year-old and again 13-year-old, all by myself, visiting my pen pal and her family. Later on, I went on backpacking trips as 16 and 17 year old, and on a round the world trip starting in India straight after finishing highschool.

My mum knew that she could trust me. She taught me to listen to my intuition from a tiny age onwards. Therefore, she allowed me to go on these trips on the premise that I would listen within, which would allow me to listen to my intuition and we both knew that its guidance would keep me safe.

However, as mentioned, every time I returned home and went back to school, jobs, etc, the pressures of life took over. There seemed to be no space and time to listen. Life was busy and full of demands.

Moreover, society tells us what we ‘should’ do and be, and we forget to listen to our own instincts.

Society tells us what we ‘should’ do and be, and we forget to listen to our own instincts.

In society and education, our beliefs shaped by culture, language, upbringing, schooling, and various other influences dictate our understanding of right and wrong, good and bad. These influences shape our perceptions and guide our actions, as we associate pleasure and pain with the things we believe we must attain or conform to.

Our brains operate through a complex network of subconscious connections, often functioning automatically. Additionally, our bodies retain extra messages, including those stemming from trauma and painful experiences, to prevent their recurrence.

If we fail to reflect on and release these stored pains from our bodies, they can accumulate and contribute to tension, posture problems, accidents and even chronic illnesses over time. It's important to clear them out so we can tune into the messages our bodies are holding for us.

Otherwise we might end up having random accidents or even getting sick, just like I did when I was 16. Back then I realised the following 3 keys:

  1. Stress is a killer

  2. Our body, mind and spirit are all one

  3. We must listen to our intuition

In order to do so, I went on a long inner journey of healing, exploration and unlocking - and what I’ve learnt has not only led me to a life of purpose, inner and outer success, but also allowed me to support thousands of people to do the same.

In order to be able to listen to our intuition, we must turn inward and listen to our bodies to rediscover who we really are. This alignment enables us to unlock our full potential and achieve anything we set our minds to.

This then not only leads our path to wellbeing, but also success in business and relationships alike.

When we connect with our true selves, the possibilities are limitless.

Our conditioning, stored in both our subconscious and conscious minds, often leads us to act in ways that don't align with our true selves. This can manifest as inner pressure, stress, holding up masks, avoidance, and a general lack of fulfillment.

When we disconnect from our authentic selves, we may experience overthinking, perfectionism, self-doubt, and other negative patterns; all patterns that make listening within extremely hard. However, when we reconnect with who we truly are, we feel confident, fulfilled, spacious and aligned; plus it’s easier to tap into our intuition.

It's essential to connect with our purpose and potential, embracing our gifts and sharing them with the world unapologetically. If you're ready to embark on this journey of self-discovery and alignment, it can lead to greater flow, fulfillment, purpose, confidence, wealth and impact in both our inner and outer worlds.

When we clear away emotional baggage and conditioning, we rediscover ourselves and feel a profound sense of safety and belonging.

If you're ready to take the journey inward, I'm here to help. Let's clear away the baggage and (re)discover the real you, so you can live an empowered, inspired and fulfilling life, creating your dream results in business and life, and magnetising epicness with inner certainty.

I look forward to connecting with you.
